Coronavirus: Orange County nears 18,000 tested; 79 new cases on April 19

No new deaths were reported in the county on Sunday. There have been a total of 32 deaths.

The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 1,636 confirmed cases of the coronavirus as of Sunday, April 19.

No new deaths were reported in Orange County. according to the update. There have been a total of 32 deaths in a county of more than 3.2 million.

Statewide there were 1,072 deaths attributed to COVID-19 as of Saturday.

In Orange County, another 79 new cases of the virus were noted in Sunday’s update, with 24 of 25 hospitals reporting. Huntington Beach had the most new cases reported, with 24.

After the county reported a daily high of 1,245 people tested for coronavirus on Saturday, the Sunday report said 328 were tested. The total number of tests in the county is 17,994 – that works out to about 55.9 residents per 10,000.

The number of people reported hospitalized in Orange County by the coronavirus was 144 on Sunday; 56 of those required treatment in intensive care units. That data also comes from the 24 hospitals reporting.
