Out & About: Virtual events and event cancellations in the South Bay May 1-7

There are several virtual events going on.

The calendar of events for the week has been modified to reflect cancellations and postponements because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. But there are also virtual events that folks can watch.

Indivisible South Bay: Featuring guest Speaker Rep. Ted Lieu, 1:45-3:45 p.m. Free.

Online Career Workshop Series for Women: Presented by Gals Starting Over, 9-11 a.m. $50.

May 6

Good Morning, Palos Verdes: Presented by Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, 8-9:15 a.m.

Transgender, Non-binary Gender Nonconforming Social Support Group: Presented by South Bay LGBT Center, 7-9 p.m.

May 7

Open Mic Night Live Stream: Presented by Grand Annex, 6:30-9 p.m.

Queer Book Club: Presented by the South Bay LGBTQ Center. 7-9 p.m.

Applications: Applications are now available for the Palos Verdes Homes Association’s Harry M. Brandel Jr. Scholarships, awarded annually to qualified high school seniors, college students or graduate students majoring any of several areas. Applications available at; PVHA office, 320 Palos Verdes Drive West, in Palos Verdes Estates; an in school and college guidance centers. Completed applications must be postmarked by Friday, May 15. South Bay Film Society Film Virtual Showings: “And Then We Danced” through May 7, “Slay the Dragon” through May 9, “The Whistler” through May 18 and “A White, White Day” through May 17. For details:


All Palos Verdes Performing Arts events are postponed until further notice.

All events at the Redondo Beach Main Library and the Redondo Beach North Branch Library are canceled until further notice.

All Palos Verdes Library District events and all meetings taking place in area libraries are canceled until further notices. All PVLD branches will be closed until further notice.
